Back when we posted the game for the jam it was pretty unpolished and plenty of the features we had envisioned were missing. With this update, we are hoping to bring this game one step closer towards our vision.
Update Notes
- Bugfix : The Resident Info Panel no longer gets stuck when clicking on buildings.
- Bugfix: Investigation now actually uncovers information about the residents of each house.
- Bugfix: Fire Button now allows you to fire an Employee.
- New Feature: Murder Button now allows you to assault the residents of a house and even eliminate them.
- New Feature: Build Button now allows you to build upgrades into buildings (Though they have no effects other than getting built yet).
- New Feature: Haunting using Employees with Powers is more efficient against Residents with a Matching Fear. Residents without any Fears provide more spooks in general.
- New Feature: Residents have Traits that affect the math formulas hidden in the background and their behavior.
- New Feature: Employees have Quirks - That do nothing at the moment.
- New Feature: Options Menu allows changing the volume of the Music and the SFX
- New Feature: Employees level up as they take on actions. Level-up might give them stats, powers or even new traits.
Going Forward
Personally, I feel like plenty of things are still missing, but I've wanted to update this project by the end of the spooky season. Further below I am listing the features that we would like to add in this project.
- Ghost Hunters: A faction that chases after ghosts and could put your employees in danger. Your activity in a Neighborhood is bound to grab their attention, making it harder to keep haunting the same houses again and again.
- More Neighborhoods: We want to allow players to purchase more neighborhoods to expand their activities.
- More Art: Several assets are missing from this project. Ghost images for the employees, more resident sprites. Icons for the monster stats.
- Seek Balance: At the moment the balance of gaining spooks and souls is non existant. We would like to rework on the formulas of the game- Even rework at the way haunting works.
- Employee Training: Allow Training your Employees and making them better in some ways.
- Employee Promotion: Allow negotiating promotions with employees.
- Employee Satisfaction: We would like to implement some mechanics to control the satisfaction of your employees.
- Missions: A menu with missions that you could do. From simple things like Goals to gather spooks before a certain date and unlocking technologies, to finding out some special person that meets certain criteria and sacrificing them for the purpose of the mission.
- Analytics Window: A menu which shows graphs regarding how your Spooks and Souls Balance is progressing.
- Save/Load game: As a feature for a downloadable version of the game, we would like to allow players to save their progress.
